Crop varieties from outside the United States (US) often differ from those grown in the US. As a US-based entity, our primary focus is varieties with importance to US-based nurseries and growers. For high-profile international crops, such as grapevines and olives, we have made efforts to include the profiles of as many cultivated varieties as possible in our databases. Please note, if we do not have a profile for your variety or varieties in our database we cannot identify it.
Importation of your Samples
We can only import young leaves that have been dried and shipped using our standard collection protocol. We provide all the necessary collection material and importation permit. The cost is $460 per sample or $350 per sample for 6 or more samples. These prices include the $50 per sample surcharge for all international samples.
We include a copy of our importation permit with the sample collection material. Please read and follow Permit Conditions 2 and 3. The plant material must be selected from apparently disease-free and pest-free sources, free of federal noxious weeds and soil. Upon arrival in the United States, the plant materials are subject to inspection by a representative of Plant Protection and Quarantine or by a Customs and Border Protection Agriculture Specialist.
Important Shipping Instructions
A copy of our importation permit must be included with your shipment. You must also include an invoice or packing list stating the type of crop and listing the contents as, "dried <insert crop type> leaf material for destructive laboratory analysis - Permit Number: <insert permit number>". The permit number must also be on the bill of lading and visible on the outside of the package.
