Comments This selection originated from the Towne Vineyard in Woodbridge, California. The original plant material came to Foundation Plant Services some time prior to 1960 and was initially planted in 1961 in the old foundation vineyard as Flame Tokay 02. Cuttings were taken from Flame Tokay 02 in 1962 and subjected to heat treatment for 42 days; the resulting plant material was planted in the foundation vineyard in 1963 as Flame Tokay 03. Microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy was performed on tissue from Flame Tokay 03 in 1999 to create Flame Tokay 07. After successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program, Flame Tokay 07 was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2006. Flame Tokay 07 successfully completed testing under the 2010 Protocol in 2011, after which it was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard as Flame Tokay 07.1.
