Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services around 1960 from the vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology, University of California, Davis (location I(eye)76 v 21). The vines from which this selection originated were planted in the Department collection sometime prior to 1950. The original material underwent testing at Foundation Plant Services and was planted in the old foundation vineyard in 1962. Tinto Cão 01A underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2011 to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard. The treated material successfully completed testing at FPS in 2013 and will be planted at Russell Ranch as Tinto Cão FPS 01A.1.
