Comments Morrastel is the main French synonym for Rioja's Graciano and is also a synonym in Spain for Mourvèdre. Morrastel Bouschet, which is a separate cross, is sometimes called Morrastel in Southern France.

Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services around 1960 from the vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology, University of California, Davis (location I67 v1). The selection underwent heat treatment for 108 days in 1970 and was released to the FPS foundation vineyard in 1973 as Morrastel (Morastel) 02. Morrastel 02 was subjected to microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy in 1999; the resulting vines were planted in the Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2005 as Morrastel 03. Morrastel 03 successfully completed testing under the 2010 Protocol and was planted in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard in 2011 as Morrastel 03.1.
