Comments Morrastel is the main French synonym for Rioja's Graciano and is also a synonym in Spain for Mourvèdre. Morrastel Bouschet, which is a separate cross, is sometimes called Morrastel in Southern France.

Registration Status Registered Registered is the ultimate status in the California Department of Food & Agricultures Grapevine Registration & Certification Program. Registered selections have successfully completed all disease testing required by the regulations. Registered selections have also been confirmed as true to variety by experts using visual observations, DNA-based testing or both.

Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services around 1960 from the vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology, University of California, Davis (location I 67 v1). The selection underwent heat treatment for 108 days and was released to the foundation vineyard in 1973 as Morrastel (Morastel) 02. Morrastel 02 was subjected to microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy in 1999; the resulting vines were planted in the Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2005 as Morrastel 03.
