Comments This selection came to the University of California, Davis, Department of Viticulture & Enology, in February, 1940, from Italy. The grape material came with the name 'Lambrusco' and was sent by Enrico Prati. The selection was planted in the vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology (locations B129:5-6 and I64:3). Lambrusco 01 came to Foundation Plant Services in the mid-1960's for testing, where it first underwent heat treatment and then disease testing. The selection was first planted in the foundation vineyard in 1967. The name of the selection was changed to Abrusco 01 in 2016 after DNA analysis matched the selection to Colorino (prime name Abrusco).
