Comments The white mutation of Tempranillo was discovered in Rioja Baja, Spain, in 1988. CIDA (Servicio de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico Agroalimentario), the government research and development center in La Rioja, developed and stabilized the mutation. The white variety has slightly smaller leaves and berries.
