The Cornell University website recommends Aromella for commercial production of aromatic/muscat white wines. They indicate that the cultivar should be suitable for use as a varietal or for blending purposes. This selection was developed at Cornell University's New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York, from a cross between Traminette and Ravat 34. It was tested under the breeder number NY76.0844.24. The plant material came to Foundation Plant Services in 2000 and successfully completed testing to qualify for the foundation vineyard in 2002. The selection was planted in the foundation vineyard at that time under the name NY76.0844.24 FPS 01. In 2013, Cornell officially released the new cultivar with the name 'Aromella' and the name was changed at FPS to Aromella FPS 01. |
