| Comments | This quality white wine cultivar probably originates from the Croatian island of Korcula off the Dalmatian coast. Pošip bijeli is often confused with Furmint, but they are not the same cultivar. (reference 80 - Robinson, Harding, and Vouillamoz, WINE GRAPES, 2012). The book WINE GRAPES characterizes this cultivar as one of the most important white wine varieties of central Dalmatia and the wine as 'full bodied, rich and fresh, with gentle but ripe fruit aromas' (at page 840). This cultivar is also used for the sweet wine called Prošek. |
