This grape selection was initially known as GR7 when it was released in 2003. The grape is proprietary to Cornell University and requestors must sign Cornell's "Grape Grower's Agreement" prior to purchase of Geneva Red plant material. The name was changed from GR7 to Geneva Red in 2011.
