Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services from Italy in 1995 as a proprietary selection for a Napa winemaker. The Italian source was Alberto Antonini. Initially, the plant material was identified as Mammolo and the selection was incorrectly named Mammolo 01. Mammolo 01 was donated to the FPS public collection in 2002. Subsequent DNA testing revealed that the plant material matches DNA references for Vernaccia nera. The selection was renamed Vernaccia nera FPS 01 in 2012.
