Comments Garonnet is one of a series of approximately 100 French hybrids developed by Bertille Seyve and his partner Victor Villard. The cultivar was classified as an authorized variety in southern and southwest France and Loire Valley in the mid-20th century. The Garonne is a river in southwest France.

Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services in 2012 from the Vineland Station vineyard of the Department of Plant Agriculture, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The original, untreated material successfully completed testing for the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2015.
