Comments Jancis Robinson indicates (Oxford Companion to Wine, 3d ed.) that this cultivar incorporates every important red wine vine grown in Germany somewhere in its geneology. The reported notable qualities are depth of color and good acidity. It is reported to be an early-ripening red grape.

Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services in 2011 from the foundation vineyard of the Centre for Plant Health, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in Sidney, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The original material (Dornfelder FPS 01) underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2012. The treated material successfully completed testing to qualify for the FPS Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard in 2015.
