Comments Jancis Robinson indicates (Oxford Companion to Wine, 3d ed.) that this cultivar incorporates every important red wine vine grown in Germany somewhere in its geneology. The reported notable qualities are depth of color and good acidity. It is reported to be an early-ripening red grape.

The original material successfully completed testing in 2012 to qualify for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program and was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard as Dornfelder 01.
