This rootstock selection was originally imported to the quarantine program at Cornell University (New York State Agricultural Experiment Station) in Geneva, New York, from the Geilweilerhof Center in Siebeldingen, Germany. The cultivar is a cross between Silvaner x Couderc 1616E. Dr. Bruce Reisch of Cornell University transferred the material in 2010 from the quarantine block in Geneva to Foundation Plant Services in Davis, California. The original, untreated material qualified for planting in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard as Sorisil FPS 01 in 2013. Sorisil 01 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2010 to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard. The treated material successfully completed testing in 2013 and will be planted at Russell Ranch as Sorisil 01.1. |
