Comments This selection was imported from Switzerland in 1969 for Dr. Harold Olmo by Dr. William Hewitt (Plant Pathology, UC Davis). The plant material originated from the vineyard at Domaine du Mont d'Or, Sion, Vaud, Switzerland. It is reportedly an early white wine variety with small clusters. The selection was initially maintained at both Foundation Plant Services and the National Clonal Germplasm Repository at Davis under the name L'Arvine (Plant Introduction number 340882; DVIT 2640). Arvine 01 vines were first planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2009 after successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program. The name was corrected (from L'Arvine) to Arvine at FPS when the selection attained Provisional status in 2009.
