Comments This variety was developed by Fay Triplett, a grape breeder in Ceres, California. The Triplett collection is maintained at the University of California Kearney Agricultural Center in Parlier, California. UC Viticulture Extension Specialist Peter Christensen describes this variety as follows: medium vigor, semi-erect growth with a favorably open canopy; clusters medium size, conical, often winged, and mostly well filled; berries medium size, oval, mostly black, with some reddish-black due to a tendency to ripen unevenly; neutral flavor; very high acid fruit with low bunch rot potential; could be considered as a blending variety or for use in a wine grape breeding program because of its high acidity. A full description of this grape's performance in the field and a description of the resulting wine can be found in Foundation Plant Services' 2007 Grape Program Newsletter at http://fps.ucdavis.edu/ under Publications/Grape.
