Comments This Portuguese autochthonous variety is grown primarily in the Alentejo and Dão regions of Portugal. The variety is often referred to as Alfrocheiro Preto, 'black Alfrocheiro'.

Comments This selection was donated to the FPS public collection in 2007 by Jorge Böhm, Viveiros Plansel S.A., Portugal. The original material underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2007 and successfully completed testing in 2013 to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard.

Comments This selection was donated to the Foundation Plant Services public collection in 2007 by Jorge Böhm, Viveiros Plansel S.A., Portugal. After successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program, Alfrocheiro 02 was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2009. Alfrocheiro 02 tested positive for Ruprestris stem pitting virus and underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy in 2008. The treated plant material successfully completed testing to qualify it for planting in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it was planted in 2012 under the name Alfrocheiro 02.1.

Comments This selection was donated to the Foundation Plant Services public collection in 2005 by Jorge Böhm, Viveiros Plansel S.A., Portugal. The original plant material underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2005. After successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program, Alfrocheiro 03 was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2010. The selection qualified for planting in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard in 2012 by successfully completing 2010 Protocol testing. The selection was given a new FPS selection number, Alfrocheiro FPS 03.1, for the vines in the Russell Ranch vineyard.
