Moschofilero is the most well-known clone of the Fileri clone group and exhibits a muscat flavor. Lefort, François, and Kalliopi Roubelakis-Angelakis. 2001. Comments Shortly after World War II, Dr. Harold P. Olmo (former Professor in the Department of Viticulture & Enology at University of California, Davis) contacted Professor B.D. Krimbas, who was at the time the authority on Greek cultivars and author of an extensive and definitive Greek ampelography (Hellenike Ampelographia). Krimbas was also responsible for a large grapevine collection at the University of Athens. Olmo obtained many Greek cultivars from that collection, including this selection. Boutaris, Mihalis. 2000. Thesis, Master of Science in Horticulture, University of California, Davis. Fileri 01 was originally imported by Dr. Olmo from Greece in 1948 and was donated to the National Clonal Germplasm Repository in Davis, California, in 1983 (DVIT 1044; PI 171346). The plant material came to Foundation Plant Services from the NCGR in 2004 and tested positive for virus. After undergoing microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy at FPS in 2007, Fileri 01 successfully completed testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program and was planted in the Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2011. Fileri 01 successfully completed testing under the 2010 Protocol in 2011 and was planted in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard as Fileri 01.1.
