Comments This selection was imported in 1984 by Dr. Harold Olmo (Professor, UC Davis) from the Regua Agricultural Station in the Douro region of Portugal. Tinta Roríz is a Portuguese synonym name for Tempranillo. See also, Aragónez (the official Portuguese synonym name) and Valdepeñas. DNA analysis performed at FPS in 2003 showed that Tinta Roríz FPS 01 matched the references for Tempranillo. The name Tinta Roríz was maintained on this selection to acknowledge the Portuguese source.
