Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services around 1960 from the vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology, UC Davis (location I75 v9). The original material underwent heat treatment therapy for 81 days and completed basic index testing, after which it was planted in the old foundation vineyard in 1966 as Souzão 01. Souzão 01 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2011 to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard. The treated material successfully completed testing in 2013 and will be planted at Russell Ranch as Souzão FPS 01.1.

Comments This selection was imported to Davis in 1984 by Dr. Harold Olmo (Professor, UC Davis) from the Regua Agricultural Station in the Douro region of Portugal. The original material was named Souzão II and was infected with leafroll virus. The selection underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2007 and successfully completed testing to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard in 2013.
