Source	Siegerrebe FPS 01, which was originally imported from Germany
Comments	This selection was imported to Davis in 1962 from Landes-Lehr-und Forschungsanstalt fur Wein und Gartenbau, Neustadt, Germany. The USDA-ARS import record from March 28, 1962 (Plant introduction #279941C1) showed the parentage of this selection as Muscat Coutillier x Gewurztraminer. Subsequent DNA work at Foundation Plant Services found that the DNA for Siegerrebe FPS 02 is consistent with parentage: Madeleine Angevine x Traminer rot, which is the reported parentage for Siegerrebe in other established sources. This selection was originally named Siegerrebe FPS 01; eventually, Siegerrebe 01 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy at FPS in 1999. The treated plant material successfully completed testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program and was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2006 with the new selection name, Siegerrebe 02. Siegerrebe 02 successfully completed testing to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it was planted in 2011 as Siegerrebe 02.1.
