This selection came to Foundation Plant Services in the 1970's from the vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology, University of California, Davis (location KL19 v13). The plant material underwent 200 days of heat treatment in 1975 and was planted in the Tyree Vineyard in 1978 at location W7 v 22-23. Cuttings were taken from the Tyree vines and planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 1986. In 2009, Paulsen 1103 FPS 01 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy in order to qualify it for planting in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard. After successful completion of testing under the 2010 Protocol, Paulsen 1103 FPS 01 was planted in the Russell Ranch vineyard under the name Paulsen 1103 FPS 01.1. |
