Parellada [01]
Registration Status Registered
Source Bodegas Torres, Spain
Comments This selection was imported to Foundation Plant Services in 1988 from Bodegas Torres in the Penedès region of northeastern Spain. The original material underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 1997 and was planted in the Classic Foundation Vineyard 2001 after successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program. A backup vine for Parellada 01 was, at the same time, created by microshoot tip tissue culture therapy and planted in the Classic Foundation Vineyard. That backup vine successfully completed testing in 2013 to qualify for planting in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it will be known as Parellada 01.1.
