Comments This variety is grown primarily in southwest France north of Toulouse and throughout the Charente in the West-Center of France. In California, the variety is known as Pinot St. George.

Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services around 1963 from the former UC Foothill Experiment Station in Jackson, California. After basic index testing, the original material was planted in the foundation vineyard in 1966 as Pinot St. George 04. The selection did not receive any treatment. The name of this selection was changed from Pinot St. George 04 to Négrette 04 in 2003 because Négrette is more recognizable internationally and is the TTB-approved prime name.

Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services before 1960 from a vineyard (Sambuccetti) near Ukiah, California. The original material completed basic index testing at FPS and was planted in the foundation vineyard in 1961 as Pinot St. George 01. The name Pinot St. George 01 was changed to Négrette 06 in 2003 because Négrette is more recognizable internationally and is the TTB-approved prime name.
