| Comments | Two Bulgarian table grapes with white berries have the word 'Bolgar' in their names: (1) Super Ran Bolgar and (2) Bulgaria (aka Bolgaria). Both varieties are the result of a cross between Italia x Jantar, performed at the Institut de Viticulture et d'Oenologie at Pleven. From the synonym name on the Vitis International Variety Catalogue (VIVC.de/index), Super Ran Bolgar (syn. Bolgar Super Precoce) appears to be an earlier ripener than the variety Bulgaria. The identity of the selection Bolgar 01 at FPS will be clarified when it is professionally identified. |
