Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services in 1988. The original plant material underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy and was released as Pinot Meunier 05 in 2000 after successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program. Pinot Meunier 05 successfully completed testing to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard where it will be planted in 2013 as Pinot Meunier 05.1.

Comments This selection was imported to Foundation Plant Services in 2012 under the name Schwarzriesling from Dr. Bernd Hill at the Staatliche Lehr-und Versuchsanstalt für Wein- und Obstbau - Referat Rebenzüchtung in Weinsberg, Germany. Schwarzriesling is a synonym name for the cultivar Pinot Meunier. The original material successfully completed testing at FPS and qualified for the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2013. The original material underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2014 and qualified for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard in 2017. In Germany, this cultivar is used generally for still wine and has been developed for winter hardiness and late bud break, suitable for cool climate regions with late frost events.
