Comments |
The Piquepoul (Picpoul) grape is associated with the Languedoc region of southern France and has white, black and grey forms. The variety can tolerate sand. Wine has been made from the Piquepoul (Picpoul) grape since the 17th century. One notable wine made in France from Piquepoul/Picpoul blanc grapes is Picpoul de Pinet. Recent DNA analysis shows that Picapoll blanco is a distinct variety from Piquepoul/Picpoul blanc. (reference 80 - Robinson, et al., WINE GRAPES, p. 828). |
