One of the synonyms for Albillo Mayor is Turruntés (sometimes spelled Torrontés). Albillo Mayor has been referred to as the "Torrontés of Galicia". It is a distinctly flavored indigenous variety of the Galicia region in northwest Spain. Torrontés is a name that is also used in connection the a distinct and separate sweetish white grape from the island of Madeira (Portugal) that is known as Boal Cachudo. The Albillo Mayor grape at Foundation Plant Services is the grape from Galicia. |
