Comments This selection is a new red-wine cultivar sent by Dr. Bernd H.E. Hill from the National Institute for Education and Research (Staatliche Lehr-und Versuchsanstalt fur Wein- und Obstbau)in Weinsberg, Germany. In Germany the fruit ripens medium to late season. The grape clusters are loose and yields are medium high. The vines are medium high with upright growth and low to medium sucker growth.

This proprietary clone underwent further selection in the United States and is distributed by Sunridge Nurseries. Cabernet Dorsa 01 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it was planted in 2013 as Cabernet Dorsa 01.1.
