Negro Amaro Selections

Information about: Clonal Families, Selection Numbers and Registration Status

Negro Amaro [01]
Registration Status Registered
Source Department of Viticulture & Enology, UC Davis
Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services in 2000 from the Tyree Vineyard (TYR MO18 v30), which was formerly maintained on the University of California, Davis, campus by UC Davis' Department of Viticulture & Enology. Negro Amaro 01 first appeared on the list of registered varieties in the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program in 2005. The original material from the Tyree Vineyard also underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2000 and was later planted in the Classic Foundation Vineyard without assignment of a formal selection number. That treated material recently successfully completed testing necessary to qualify it for planting in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it will be planted in 2013 as Negro Amaro FPS 01.1.
