Comments | Vernaccia di San Gimignano has been renowned since the Middle Ages. San Gimignano is in Tuscany, Italy. (Reference 74). The grape is also known as Canaiolo bianco in Tuscany. The selection formerly known at Foundation Plant Services (University of California, Davis) as Vernaccia FPS 01 was determined by DNA analysis in 2008 to be a different grape variety, Bianchetta trevigiana. The name of that selection has been changed to Bianchetta trevigiana in the FPS records and on the list of registered selections in the California Registration & Certification Program. |
