Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services in 1988 from the then-existing quarantine program at Oregon State University. The plant material was reported to be from Colmar in the Alsace region of France. The original material did not have to undergo any treatment at FPS in order to qualify for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program and first appeared on the list of registered vines in 1991. Muscat Ottonel 04 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2011 to qualify for planting in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard. The treated material successfully completed that testing in 2013 and will be planted at Russell Ranch as Muscat Ottonel 04.1.

Comments This selection was sent to Davis in 1960 by the United States Operations Mission in Belgrade, then-Yugoslavia (now Serbia). It was labelled with the name 'Muskat Otonel' (USDA Plant Identification number 263674). The selection was initially named Muscat Ottonel 03 at Foundation Plant Services. Muscat Ottonel 03 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy at FPS in 1999. After successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program, the new treated selection was renamed Muscat Ottonel 05 and was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2008. Muscat Ottonel 05 successfully completed testing under the 2010 Protocol in 2011, after which it was planted in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard as Muscat Ottonel 05.1.
