It is believed that Norton originated in Virginia as a hybrid of Vitis aestivalis. Isozyme analysis has shown that the grape known as Norton shares DNA with the grape known as Cynthiana (Am.J.Enol.Vitic., Vol. 44, p.441 (1993)). Norton's berries and clusters are small, and the fruit ripens late. |
