Comments	Chardonel is a hybrid cross of Seyval blanc and Chardonnay and was released by the grape breeding program at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York, in 1991. The patent for Chardonel expired in 2014 , and the variety is now available to the public. The original plant material underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at Foundation Plant Services in 2012 and qualified for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard in 2015.
