Comments Elmer Swenson (1913-2004) was a grape breeder from the Upper Midwest who specialized in cold season and short season grapes. This variety was developed by Mr. Swenson in Osceola, Wisconsin. This cultivar has medium to large red fruit and is reportedly cold hardy to ~ -40 degrees F.
