Comments This highly pigmented cultivar was developed for color and winter hardiness in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario, Canada. Vintinto has a vinifera-like characteristic of containing only monoglucosidic anthocyanins. Vintinto was introducted in Canada as an interesting teinturier useful for genetic studies, but was never formally propagated in Canada for commercial wine industry use. Celebrating A Century of Success, 1906-2006, by the Horticultural Experiment Station, Vineland, and University of Guelph, page 94, eds. Arthur Loughton, Richard V. Chudyk, and Judy Wanner.
