Comments Sweet Scarlet is a mid-season red seedless table grape with muscat flavor that ripens with Ruby Seedless. The cultivar, formerly known as A2, was developed and tested by David Ramming and Ron Tarailo of the USDA-ARS, in Parlier, California. The clusters of Sweet Scarlet are large in size, conical in shape and compact, with berries weighing approximately 5.5 grams. The berries are firm and crisp and have a sweet, neutral flavor. The grape has raspberry-red skin. PLEASE NOTE: Sale of this variety is restricted outside the United States. Comments This proprietary selection came to Foundation Plant Services in 1998 from the USDA-ARS grapevine breeding program in Parlier, California. An exclusive license to distribute the variety has been given to the California Table Grape Commission. A tissue-cultured version of this selection has qualified for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard (see Sweet Scarlet 01.1).
