Source Siegerrebe FPS 01, which was originally imported from Germany
Treatments Microshoot tip culture therapy from Siegerrebe FPS 01
Comments This selection was imported to Davis in 1962 from Landes-Lehr-und Forschungsanstalt fur Wein und Gartenbau, Neustadt, Germany. The USDA-ARS import record from March 28, 1962 (Plant introduction #279941C1) showed the parentage of this selection as Muscat Coutillier x Gewurztraminer. Subsequent DNA work at Foundation Plant Services found that the DNA for Siegerrebe FPS 02 is consistent with parentage: Madeleine Angevine x Traminer rot, which is the reported parentage for Siegerrebe in other established sources. This selection was originally named Siegerrebe FPS 01; eventually, Siegerrebe 01 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy at FPS in 1999. The treated plant material successfully completed testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program and was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2006 with the new selection name, Siegerrebe 02.
