| Description |
Originates from Montmorency Valley, France circa 1600s, introduced to the U.S. in 1760. The standard for pie cherries.
The most popular sour cherry grown in America.
Doesn't get mushy during processing. Excellent for pies.
Spur type tree is self pollinating and naturally semidwarf.
More cold tolerant than sweet cherry.
Large & Bright Red
Heavy Producer
Brown-rot takes less toll from this cherry than of others of its kind probably because of relatively firm flesh and thick skin. These characters, also, make the fruit stand handling well in harvesting, shipping and on the markets.
Fruit is medium large has bright, bright red in color with firm yellow flesh and clear juice. Rich, tangy, tart flavor.
Tree requires good drainage and aeration. Trees are vigorous growers, spreading, grows to 15'. early bearers and heavy producers. Harvest in mid-July. Cold-hardy, to -40 degrees. F. . Zone 5.
