| Description |
Originated in Fresno, California, by John H. Weinberger. Introduced in 1968. Fruit: large, equal to Nubiana: oblate, but more rounded than Nubiana; skin black when fully mature, rougher than Nubiana, practically free of growth cracks. Flesh is amber in color, firm, softens slowly after harvest. Good quality; small pit. Harvest is prolonged: fruit is hard ripe 4-5 weeks after Santa Rosa, but sweetest and most delicious several weeks later (mid to late August in Central CA). Trees are very vigorous and productive. |
