| Description |
Orig. Harrow, Ontario, Canada, by R.E.C. Layne and G.M. Weaver, Agriculture Canada, Res. Sta. Introduced in 1974. Fruit is 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 inches in diameter; ovate; skin 90% red with greenish-yellow ground color, attractive. Flesh is bright yellow and red at pit; moderately firm, good quality; melting. ALMOST freestone. Trees are spreading; hardier than Redhaven, like Madison; productive. Cold hardy Canadian cultivar has showy, large, single pink blossoms. Tolerant of bacterial spot and brown rot. Susceptible to peach leaf curl and oriental fruit moth. |
