| Description |
Orig. at Giessen, Germany by W. Gruppe and H. Schmidt, Justus Liebig Univ., Giessen.
Known as the most vigorous GiSelA® clone, adapted to replanting.
GiSelA®17(S) produces a tree somewhat
larger than GiSelA®6(S) or GiSelA®13(S) with
a yield potential similar to or somewhat
less than GiSelA®6(S). GiSelA®17(S) shows somewhat reduced
potential to over-crop compared to GiSelA®5(S) or GiSelA®6(S), suggesting this rootstock
would do well with the more productive
self-fertile cultivars. GiSelA®17(S) is reported
to be less demanding as to soil and climatic
conditions than GiSelA®5(S) and has performed
well in replant sites in Germany. |
