| Description |
Originated in Georgia in 1870 from a seed of Chinese Cling. A historical and commercial peach. Long a standard cultivar since firmer than other peaches. Carries a gene for pollen sterility, as well as for isozymes Mdh1-1. A very popular cultivar, has large, yellow fruit with a crimson blush. Juicy, yellow, freestone flesh. High quality. A favorite for home gardeners. Excellent for desserts, canning, freezing and jams. Also an excellent shipping and pollenizer cultivar. Hardier in bud than many and therefore a more uniform cropper. |
