Description Orig. at Giessen, Germany by W. Gruppe and H. Schmidt, Justus Liebig University, Giessen. Selected from a population of hybrid seedlings of P. cerasus 'Shattenmorelle' x P. canescens. Known as the productive size-reducing GiSelA® cherry rootstock. GiSelA®6(S) produces a slightly larger tree than GiSelA®5(S), roughly equivalent to the apple MM106 rootstock. Tree structure; very open and round with wide-angled branching and greater lateral branching in all scion cultivars. Very precocious despite its vigor, induces very early fruiting of scions of sweet cherries. Anchors well, but may need support due to its precocious nature.
