| Description |
Developed in the UC Davis Plant Sciences Dept. by Dr. Fredrick A. Bliss. Fruit are large (around 90 gm), slightly ovate to round with medium orange with a slight pink blush when exposed to sunlight during maturation. Flesh is medium orange, firm melting at maturity but ripens quickly limiting shipping quality. Observed sporadic symptoms of bacterial canker (Pseudomonas syringae) on trees of Amelia as they begin to age. Following good pruning practices aw well as timely removal of infected wood has been beneficial for maintaining tree health. Application of dormant sprays should be made as recommended. Propagated as a clonal cultivar.
Trees show vigorous and an upright spreading growth habit; moderate to large in size similar or slightly bigger than Royal Blemheim. |
