Description |
Orig. in Dinuba, Calif., by Walter D. Krause, Reedley, Calif. Japanese plum. Introd. in 1970. Open-pollinated seedling discovered in 1970.Fruit: small, 1 1/2 inch diam.; round; skin and flesh dark maroon; flavor mellow sweet; small pit; ripens mid-July to mid-August depending on location; keeps well on tree until early September; high taste test scores. Recommended for home gardens, fruit too small for commercial market. Tree: upright, vase shaped; heavy productivity, requires thinning. Cold hardy to U.S.D.A Zones 6-10.
