Orig. in Harrow, Ont., Canada, by Gerald M. Weaver, Canada Dept. of Agr., Res. Sta. Introd. in 1969. Redskin x Sunhaven. Cross made in 1961, selected in 1964. Freestone fruit with 80 brilliant red over yellow background. Medium firm yellow flesh of good quality. Great potential for canning and freezing. Tree is vigorous, hardy and very productive with medium resistance to bacterial spot. Too soft for commercial use in the Southeast. A cold-hardy, productive cultivar in Ontario, Canada, and the northern United States. Tolerant of fungal gummosis caused by Botryosphaeria dothidea. Highly tolerant to bacterial spot Xanthomonas pruni. |
