Description Inventors: DeJong; Theodore (Davis, CA), Ramming; David (Fresno, CA), Johnson; R. Scott (Clovis, CA), Doyle; James (Clovis, CA) Origin -USDA, cross by David Ramming; Vigor Explanation - Only slightly less vigorous than Nemaguard. Makes a similar size tree, but with less water sprouts. Slightly dwarfing rootstock from the California breeding program that is compatible with peach and nectarine with no suckering. Trees have been productive with good fruit size. It has characteristics of imparting a substantial degree of vigor control to the scion cultivar that has been propagated upon it. This type of growth-controlling rootstock allows for the reduction of the height of the orchard without compromising the quality of the fruit and also this size reduction for commercial orchard trees increases efficiency of various cultural operations such as pruning, thinning and harvesting by reducing the need for workers in the field to carry and climb laddedrs. Nematode tests (Nematode Table) show root-knot and ring suseptibilty, but better resistance to lesion nematode than Nemaguard. Performed poorly in bacterial canker field site (Bacterial Canker Report 2006).
