Description |
Orig. in Fresno, Calif. by the Crops Res. Division, USDA. Introd. in 1959. Suncrest is the peach immortalized by the book Epitaph for a Peach: Four Seasons on My Family Farm, by David Mas Masumoto (1995). Large, round fruit that at maturity two-thirds of skin is covered with bright, attractive red over a yellow ground color. Yellow flesh that is firm but melting with good texture and flavor. A good shipping cultivar that is a good commercial market peach. Trees are vigorous, productive; large flower, self-fruitful, opening about with Elberta. Susceptible to bacterial spot. |
