Comments This Swiss cultivar is increasingly popular due to its early ripening and resistance to rot (reference 80 - Robinson, Hardy, and Vouillamoz, WINE GRAPES, 2012). Gamaret is a full sibling of Garanoir. It is often made as a varietal wine.

Registration Status Provisional Provisional Status is an important term used in the regulations of the California Department of Food & Agriculture's Grapevine Registration & Certification Program. Grapevine selections with Provisional Status have successfully completed all required disease testing, but have not been confirmed as true to variety. Propagation material from Provisional selections qualifies for release subject to the understanding on the part of the customer that the identity has yet to be confirmed.

Comments This selection came to Foundation Plant Services, UC Davis, in 2013 from the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) foundation vineyard at the Centre for Plant Health at Sidney, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The plant material was originally imported to Canada from Switzerland. Gamaret 01 successfully completed testing to qualify for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program in 2015.
